My Weekend Plans Have Been Made

Sometimes living in Wisconsin can feel life a little bit of a void. As a kid I didn’t have many friends into comics or Star Wars or wrestling. Getting to talk about pop culture things was rare. But now Taco Bell has just turned us into a cultural Mecca!! Kit Kat Quesadilla’s! Screw health. Screw my heart and screw diabetes! It is now my mission to track down this culinary masterpiece being tested in Wisconsin ! Viva WI

The Walking Dead Gets The Movie Poster Treatment.

Since it’s debut The Walking Dead has been pretty consistently ( I’m looking at you terrible season two) one of my favorite shows. It pulled me back into graphic novels and just recharged my love of the zombie pop culture takeover. One downside to it being a tv show is you don’t get the iconic advertising of a big screen blockbuster. Thankfully series producer Greg Nicotero has a fond place in his heart for classic film fandom and posters. He commissioned a few great folks to add The Walking Dead to some classic posters. Some of the results are below and great. You can see more here.

Toy Box Tuesday

As a soon to be parent I am so excited to start buying toys for my son. Everyone loves getting something and when I browse the toys now they are just amazing at what is out there. So the toys will kinda be for both of us, for a while. So every tuesday I’m going to dip into my own childhood toybox of things I have saved, or things I remember playing with and kind of discuss them or at least fondly remember them.

Today is the Ecto – 1 from the 80’s Ghostbusters

I’m sure over time I will cover my Ghostbusters collection in great detail. movies, toys, all of it. But to kick things off its the car. The best accessory for the Ghostbusters. I remember trying to perfect that siren sound, even trying to record it off the movie and play it back when playing with the toys to really get a ” real life” feeling.” A few accessories have gone missing for it, the back door is long gone, but it still holds a place in my toy box and has held up great. More than once the ecto-1 become an airborne toy flying off rams and thrown through the air after ghosts, it also doubled as a water vehicle and occasional island refuge for some reason. All plastic I’m impressed it still stands and I guess my son will just have to love Ghostbusters as well, but I guess he can play with it either way.
